Co-curricular programs

At Murray High School, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular activities offer students a variety of opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The Student Representative Council (SRC) empowers students to have a voice in our school community. Through the SRC, many improvements have been made to our school environment. Students are encouraged to share their suggestions via the SRC, and a suggestion box is available in the library for easy access.

Student-Run Deja Brew Coffee Shop

Every Monday and Wednesday morning, our students operate the Deja Brew Coffee Shop before school. Participating students can enroll in a six-week Introduction to Espresso Making Course run by Platform 9 Coffee Roasters, receiving a Certificate of Completion to enhance their resumes and future job prospects. The coffee shop provides students with valuable experience in coffee making and customer service, supported by staff and during school events like the Personal Achievement Assembly and Harmony Day. Besides coffee, the shop also offers milkshakes, iced chocolates, and other treats.

Agriculture

Our on-site agriculture plot gives students practical, hands-on experience. We have laying chickens, sheep, and veggie gardens for students to learn from. The "Paddock to Plate" course offers a blend of theoretical and practical lessons on Australian agriculture, allowing students to grow vegetables and cook simple meals with their produce.

Community Involvement

This year, our school proudly led the ANZAC Day March in Albury, with senior students carrying banners from Albury RSL. As part of our sports program, students can choose to cook meals for Care Van, helping to support our community every week.

The Arts and Music

Students regularly showcase their talents with lunchtime concerts in the Art Quad. Many drama students participate in local community plays each year. Every second year, MHS stages a school production, with recent shows including "Beauty and the Beast" and "Guys and Dolls."

Sport

We offer a diverse range of sports to cater to every student's interests and abilities. Our Wednesday sport options include cycling, chess, basketball, bushwalking, soccer, fishing, yoga, and more, ensuring there's something for everyone.

Career Support

Our "Girls Can Too" program, visits to TAFE and universities, and work experience opportunities help students prepare for their futures. The dedicated Murray High School Careers page provides access to university websites, ATAR information, and post-school options. Students can also book appointments with our Career Advisor, John Stead, at their convenience. Visit the Murray High School Careers page for more information.
